List of Articles

This is the list of articles that will appear in this work, organized by topic. An x- indicates that the article is crosslisted in a subsidiary category, in addition to being listed in its main category. So, for example, John Deere is listed in Science and Invention, and crosslisted in Agriculture. This is for authors' benefit, so they can be aware of what subjects are being covered under each topic.

Entries that are struck through have already been assigned. Note: This list was last updated on 10 Novmeber 2008 at 10:30 a.m. PST.

Compensation rates are as follows:
     5,000 word articles - $100
     2,500 word articles - $50
     1,500 word articles - $30
     750 word articles - $20

Anyone who writes 5,000 words' worth of articles--either as one article, or several--will also be given a complimentary copy of the encyclopedia.

750-2,500 word articles will be due two months after they are assigned. 5,000 word articles will be due three months after they are assigned.

Special Note: Any article 2,500 words or longer must include at least two suggestions for "sidebar" topics at the end of the article. Sidebars are brief, engaging articles that relate to the main subject at hand but are not covered extensively (or at all) in the main article. So, for example, an appropriate sidebar for Clothing and Fashion might be "Amelia Bloomer" or "The Rise of the Beard."
